Field Hockey Canada announces the nomination window for the class of 2025

Field Hockey Canada is proud to announce that nominations are now open for the Hall of Fame Class of 2025. This annual process celebrates individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the sport in Canada, whether as athletes, coaches, officials, builders, or teams.

Established in 2014, the Field Hockey Canada Hall of Fame honours decades of excellence and dedication to the sport. The Hall of Fame Committee, appointed by the Field Hockey Canada Board of Directors, oversees the nomination, selection, and celebration of inductees each year.

Nomination Timeline

The Hall of Fame nomination and induction process follows a structured timeline:

September 26 – Online launch of the nomination process
October 31 – Deadline for all nomination submissions
December – Selection decisions made by the Hall of Fame Committee
January – Inductees informed by official letter
January – Public announcement of inductees via Field Hockey Canada platforms
March–September – Potential window for in-person Hall of Fame ceremony
August – Projected online induction month featuring individual highlight stories and video tributes

Nomination Criteria

Nominations will be accepted in the following categories: Athlete, Coach, Official, Builder, and Team.

All Nominees Must:

Be a Canadian citizen or have lived in Canada for over 25 years
Demonstrate exemplary values and personal characteristics
Have made a defining contribution to the sport of field hockey and/or indoor hockey in Canada

Category-Specific Criteria:

Athlete

Retired from international competition for at least five years
Achieved significant success while representing Canada
Brought honour and recognition to Canada both on and off the field
Competed in major international events such as the Olympic Games, World Cup, Pan Am Games, or Commonwealth Games

Coach

Demonstrated expertise and dedication over at least five years, elevating Canadian team performance internationally
Recognized as a leader in field hockey both domestically and internationally
Contributed to the development of high-performance coaches in Canada for at least four years
Coached Canadian teams in major international competitions

Official

Recognized for excellence as an umpire or technical official at the international level for over five years
Appointed to officiate at least 75 international matches, including top-tier events
Provided leadership in developing elite Canadian officials for at least four years

Builder

Made extraordinary contributions to the growth and development of Canadian field hockey over a minimum of 10 years
May be active or inactive; evaluated based on impact and contributions

Team

Achieved an outstanding result in a Continental or World-level competition
Made a defining contribution to the development of competitive hockey in Canada

How to Make a Nomination

Nominating someone for the Hall of Fame is a meaningful way to recognize their impact on the sport. The process includes four key steps:

Complete the nomination form
Submit the nominee’s CV
Submit a letter of support
Include any additional supporting materials

The Hall of Fame is more than a recognition—it’s a celebration of the legacy and passion that drives Canadian field hockey forward. We encourage the community to take part in this important tradition by nominating deserving individuals for the Class of 2025.
