Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy played in his first game since Nov. 15 on Thursday night, collecting an assist in Boston’s 6-3 win over the Jets in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
McAvoy had been sidelined since taking a slap shot to the face from Montreal Canadiens defenseman Noah Dobson. He suffered what he called a “linear fracture” to the left side of his face and lost 20 pounds in the days afterward while relegated to a liquid diet.
He joined the Bruins on their three-game road trip and played just over 24 minutes against the Jets.
The Bruins were 6-5 in the 11 games McAvoy missed.
