Host: “My old my old teammate, Steven Stamkos, do you have him going to a contender? What’s that market like looking for him?
Friedman: “You know, I’ll say this, like Stamkos had a four-goal game last week. That never hurts. That never hurts, Michael.
You know, I think this, if you take a look at Stamkos’ numbers, I started watching him a lot more now. He, one of the biggest issues he has in Nashville is he just he doesn’t shoot as much. Like if you look at his shot rates in Tampa, and you look at his shot rates in Nashville, they’re just not as offensively dangerous. So he doesn’t get as many opportunities. I think he’s obviously not as quick as he used to be, but he’s not, but he’s still a very smart guy.
NHL Rumors: Los Angeles Kings, and the St. Louis Blues
I think the biggest thing there, Michael is, is someone willing to take the full contract. Nashville has kind of let people know, if you look at their cap situation or their money situation, they’ve still got two big buyouts on the books. They have Kyle Turris on the books, and they have Matt Duchene on the books. And as a result, they’ve kind of indicated to people they’re not interested in retaining money on Stamkos, and if you do, you have to do it for two more years.
I think that’s going to be the biggest question is, is there a deal that can be that gets done, not only that makes Stamkos happy, Michael, but also financially, works with Nashville, not really retaining a lot of money.”
