A bunch of quick hits from around the NHL
Dan Rosen of NHL.com: (mailbag) The Washington Capitals could use a top-six left winger to round out their top-six when Pierre-Luc Dubois returns from his injury. They have the salary cap space to add someone. Cole Hutson could give their blue line a boost when his college season is over.
David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period: The San Jose Sharks, St. Louis Blues, Nashville Predators, and the Vancouver Canucks are still willing to listen to calls on their pending free agents, as well as players under term. The Calgary Flames aren’t fully there yet, but believe that at least Rasmus Andersson will be traded before the March 6th deadline.
The Seattle Kraken have pending free agents in forwards Jordan Eberle, Jaden Schwartz and Eeli Tolvanen, and defenseman Jamie Oleksiak. GM Jason Botterill will talk to their agents in the New Year, but they’ll also listen to calls from other teams. Eberle has a no-trade clause. Oleksiak and Schwartz have a 16-team no-trade. Jared McCann has a year left at $5 million and a 10-team no-trade.
NHL Rumors: Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers
The Chicago Blackhawks have pending UFAs in forwards Nick Foligno, Jason Dickinson, Sam Lafferty, and Ilya Mikheyev, and defenseman Connor Murphy, and Matt Grzelcyk.
Buffalo Sabres GM Jarmo Kekalainen said they were going to be aggressive. They’re on a roll, but will listen on some of their players. He’s already spoken with Alex Tuch’s agent, and would likely take eight years and at least $10 million.
Andrew Mangiapane is willing to waive his no-trade clause for a contender and the ‘best fit.’ The Edmonton Oilers are shopping his $3.6 million cap hit for one more year.
The Minnesota Wild have $4 million in cap space and are looking for a top-six forward. They may look to move out more salary, and could consider moving Ryan Hartman, who has a year left and a 15-team no-trade list.
NHL Rumors: Trade Prices Could Be Higher Than Originally Thought
The Philadelphia Flyers and Christian Dvorak could be looking at a three-year deal at around $5.5 million a season.
Believe teams have called the Anaheim Ducks about center Ryan Strome, who has a year left at $5 million.
