Danielle Collins Out of AO, Undergoing Egg Freezing Procedures – Tennis Now

Danielle Collins will miss the 2026 Australian Open, while preparing for her family future.

The 2022 Australian Open finalist Collins announced she will be sidelined for the start of the 2026 season. The 32-year-old American is undergoing egg-freezing procedure and recovering from a back injury that plagued her at the end of the 2025 season.

Collins, a 2019 AO semifinalist, announced on Instagram she has one more egg-freezing procedure to complete, adding “these hormones I have had to be on are a real b****.”

“Wanted to come on here and give everyone a little update since everyone has been asking! I’ve been taking the last few months off to recover from the back injury I had at the end of the season,” Collins posted on Instagram. “I’ve also been undergoing a few egg freezing procedures 🥳🥚 It’s been one of the coolest things I’ve honestly ever done! But at the same time these hormones I have had to be on are a real b**** 🤣🎢

“I am so fortunate for the friends that have been helping take care of me during this time 🤍 I have one more procedure to go. With all of this, I will not be competing during the first part of the year.”

The Australian Open is Collins’ most successful major. In 2022, Collins swept Iga Swiatek, 6-4, 6-1, to reach her maiden major final in Melbourne. Australian Ash Barty beat Collins, 6-3, 7-6(2) in the 2022 AO final.

In the second half of last season, Collins was pained by the back and apparent arm injury that sapped the sting from her serve. Collins reached the Strasbourg semifinals on red clay in May and the Wimbledon third round but struggled to a 4-7 record over her last 11 matches as she could not serve to her standard. Collins pulled the plug on her season after a 6-2, 6-0 loss to Jaqueline Cristian in the US Open first round.

Former world No. 7 Collins suggested she may well return to the commentary booth working for Tennis Channel in the near future.

Last fall, Collins shared her dating profile during the fall drawing interest from potential suitors in the process.
