The Monaco Grand Prix is, arguably, Formula 1’s most famous event. Seeing it live is on the bucket list for many motorsport enthusiasts. The sport has visited Monaco almost every season since the first year of the modern World Championship in 1950 and, while the buildings have multiplied and the track has undergone minor changes, the essence of tight street racing between the barriers has remained the same.

The Monaco Grand Prix is the eighth round of the season in 2025, and the second in Europe after the 2025 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, which takes place one week earlier in Italy. Official attendance figures for the Monaco Grand Prix have not been released since 2017 but it is believed that the weekend attendance is somewhere around the 200,000 mark. In 2022, the number of people arriving into Monaco by train increased by 10,000 compared to the previous fully-attended race at Circuit de Monaco in 2019. If you have General Admission tickets, we recommend arriving early in order to secure the best viewing spots.

Heading to Monaco for the first time? All the essential travel information is available in Travel Basics.

2025 Monaco Grand Prix Tickets On Sale

Tickets for the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix went on sale earlier than ever for the 2025 race. The cheapest ticket categories sold out quickly, but good supply remains in some of the best grandstands, as well as on trackside yachts and hospitality terraces. Ticket packages for the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix from Formula 1’s official ticket package partner, F1 Experiences, are also on sale. Choose from weekend grandstand packages with Thursday or Friday hospitality access to the trackside yacht, or enjoy all-inclusive trackside hospitality in some of the best terraces overlooking Circuit de Monaco. Where to Stay for the Monaco Grand Prix

Race weekend accommodation in Monaco itself is limited and prohibitively expensive for all but the most cashed-up race fans, but the good news is that Monaco is well-connected to cities along the coast by regular train services. The best range of accommodation can be found to the west in the nearby city of Nice, but Menton to the east is also a great base for the Monaco Grand Prix. How Much Does it Cost to Attend the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix?

The 2025 Monaco Grand Prix was due to be the last of three events held as part of a contract extension between Formula 1 and race organisers but a new deal signed in late 2024 means that the race will continue on the schedule until at least 2031. As part of the new deal, this year’s Monaco Grand Prix will be the last held in May, with the event moving to the first weekend in June from 2026 onwards.

Ticket prices in Monaco have risen by around 30% in recent years – perhaps as a result of the conditions of the new contract. However, while the event used to be the most expensive to attend of the season, ticket prices at the new American races in Miami and Las Vegas have seen the principality’s race slip down the list of F1’s most expensive weekends. Ticket prices for the Monaco Grand Prix remained largely the same in 2025 as they were in 2024.

We estimate that the average fan will spend around €1,830 ($2,000 USD) on a trip to the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix. That includes three day grandstand tickets, a three night stay in a hotel in Nice, plus spending money. Budget Planner has the full breakdown on what you can expect to spend while attending the Monaco Grand Prix.

Getting to Circuit de Monaco

The good news for fans attending the Monaco Grand Prix is that the principality is relatively easy to get to and transport is relatively cheap. Trains are the recommended way of getting to the circuit, but buses and self-driving are also viable options. Detailed information and advice for fans travelling from Nice, Menton and other popular areas near Monaco can be found in Getting Around.

Trackside at the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix

In 2022, the Monaco Grand Prix broke from tradition and fell into line with the other races on the calendar by moving the first two Formula 1 practice sessions from Thursday to Friday. The Friday to Sunday schedule for Formula 1 remains at the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix, though there is on-track action on Thursday from support categories. In 2025, the confirmed support categories for the Monaco Grand Prix are Formula 2, Formula 3 and the Porsche Supercup. You can always expect plenty of drama and exciting races among the support categories in Monaco!

During race weekend, the fan zone at Place d’Armes hosts on-stage interviews with all twenty F1 drivers, as well as team principals and legendary names from the past. See the image above with the schedule of 2025 appearances in the fanzone at the Monaco Grand Prix. It’s always worth sticking around on an evening at the circuit too, as you’ll see the track transformed into a party scene! You can find all the vital information about watching the race, including session times and access points, in Trackside.

Off-Track Activities rounds up the best things to do and the best places to visit, including Prince Rainier’s car collection, Monte Carlo’s iconic casino and Nice’s expansive beaches.
