Beginning with 2024’s Nike KD 17, the Swoosh and Kevin Durant embarked on one of the more inventive endeavors in recent NBB history, calling up archival Beaverton designs through each year’s signature model. It’s impossible to know how long this will last, but so far the returns have been encouraging, linking the Air Max Plus to KD 17 and the Terra Humara to the current KD 18. Is there room for a third model in the latter’s mix? The Nike KD 18 SE “Vivid Purple” aims to find out, just surfacing via official images.
To pull back the mystery, it would appear that Durant and the design team are embarking on a few homages to the Nike Air Foamposite One, linking the perennial All-Star and the tanky model’s DMV ties together. The most recent SNKRS Showcase revealed a shining edition in “International Blue” that evokes the “Royal,” while the one at hand bears real resemblance to the equally totemic “Eggplant.” On top of the shades deployed here, the shimmering sidewalls and icy sole underfoot touch on the original design, with a divergent flourish coming via the gradient mesh contained within.
Though official images of the Nike KD 18 SE “Vivid Purple” showcase exactly what consumers will recieve upon arrival, when that’ll occur is a different matter entirely. No concrete date has surfaced just yet, but be ready for a slightly premium $170 MSRP given the “SE” subtitle.
