The Monaco Grand Prix will remain on the Formula 1 calendar until at least 2035 following the signing of a further four-year contract extension.

Monaco’s place on the Formula 1 calendar has been secured further into the future thanks to the signing of a new contract extension by Automobile Club de Monaco. The news comes less than a year after Monaco secured its long term future through to 2031. The new deal extends the agreement signed in November 2024 by a further four years, to 2035.

The future of the Monaco Grand Prix had been in doubt earlier this decade. A contract signed in 2022 was the first between race organisers and F1 in 11 years. That deal covered three seasons, through to 2025, and is believed to have included a number of new terms including details on higher hosting fees and trackside advertising.

Speaking about the latest deal, Stefano Domenicali talked about the historic importance of the Monaco Grand Prix:

“The streets of Monaco have been echoing with the sound of Formula 1 since the earliest days of the sport, so I’m delighted to announce the extension of this fantastic event to 2035. It is an iconic race that is loved by all drivers and fans, with a unique vibe thanks to its location on the world’s most glamorous Principality. I would like to say a special thank you to His Serene Highness, Prince Albert II of Monaco, Michel Boeri, President of the Automobile Club of Monaco and everyone involved in securing the long-term future of this historic partnership.”

The Monaco Grand Prix will celebrate its centenary in 2029, with the first race in the principality having taken place in 1929. It has been run as a round of the Formula 1 championship in almost every season since 1950, with only a handful of exceptions. Most recently, the race did not take place in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. It ended a consecutive run of calendar appearances which dated back to 1955.

In 2024, Charles Leclerc became the first Monegasque driver to take victory in his home race in its World Championship history. 38 different drivers have won in the principality in total, with Lando Norris becoming the latest driver to join the list in 2025.

Seven Contracts Secured Until 2035

The Monaco Grand Prix is the seventh circuit to secure its future through to 2035 or beyond. The Madring – the new host of the Spanish Grand Prix, in Madrid – joins the calendar on a 10-race deal in 2026. Races in Canada, Bahrain and Australia also have deals lasting well into the 2030s, while Miami and Austria are the first to secure their contracts into the following decade. Deals signed earlier this year mean that both Miami International Autodrome and the Red Bull Ring will stay on the schedule until 2041.

Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Circuit of The Americas and Baku City Circuit are the three circuits with contracts up for renewal in 2026. While there’s doubt over the future of Catalunya’s tenure on the schedule, the immediate futures of the United States and Azerbaijan Grands Prix are not believed to be in doubt.

Monaco has a new position on the calendar from 2026 onwards. Previously held on the final weekend in May, the race will be run on the first weekend of June for the foreseeable future. Next year’s Monaco Grand Prix is set to take place on June 5-7. Tickets are not yet on sale. Sign up to our mailing list below to be notified of event news and ticket updates.
