The New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors agreed to voluntary dismiss a lawsuit involving the alleged theft of thousands of confidential files from 2023, reported Baxter Holmes of ESPN.
The suit, filed by the Knicks, accused the Raptors of poaching former Knicks employee Ikechukwu Azotam and ordering him to provide internal information on the team.
“The Knicks and [Raptors owner] Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment withdrew their respective claims and the matter is resolved. The Parties are focused on the future,” spokespersons representing both teams told ESPN in the same statement.
The Knicks specifically alleged that Azotam sent the files to the Raptors as they were trying “organize, plan, and structure the new coaching and video operations staff” under new head coach Darko Rajakovic.
The lawsuit mentioned several defendants, including the Raptors, Azotam and Rajakovic.
The lawsuit was dismissed without prejudice.
