Texas A&M does not provide update on RB Le’Veon Moss

No. 5 Texas A&M (6-0, 3-0 SEC) took care of business at home against Florida (2-4, 1-2 SEC), defeating the Gators 34-17 behind another elite defensive performance, limiting quarterback DJ Lagway 245 yards and 1-10 on third down, as the last three SEC opponents are now 1-33 on third down attempts. Senior edge Cashius Howell, who notched his eighth sack of the year, was constantly in the backfield.

Texas A&M’s offense was hot to start the game, as starting quarterback Marcel Reed connected on several explosive plays, including his 67-yard pass to transfer wide receiver Mario Craver, which turned into Reed running for the first touchdown of the game. One of those first three half-scoring drives came from senior running back Le’Veon Moss, who broke away for a red zone score.

However, late in the first half, Moss went down after an outside run, reportedly suffering an ankle injury. Although he was seen walking on his own into the locker room, the senior did not return but was reportedly available after the half.

Moss didn’t see the field again, and after the game, head coach Mike Elko was brief, stating that he did not have an official update on Moss’s injury status, but did provide an honest statement regarding the Aggies’ need to produce on the ground if Moss misses a game or two over the next three weeks.

“It is what it is. I love Le’Veon. Hopeful he’s OK, but we have to be able to play. That’s SEC football.”

Injuries happen, and Le’Veon Moss, who tore his ACL and MCL eight games into the 2024 season, is well aware of the challenges rehabilitation presents. Still, if he was technically available during the second half of Saturday’s game, this is a good sign heading into next week.
