The Air Jordan 40 is playing the hits with styles inspired by legendary models from the line’s illustrious history — and we’re 100% here for it. We already dove into a Jordan 1–inspired pair set to launch in November, but dare we say the Jumpman has already outdone itself.
Here we have the Air Jordan 40-23, featuring a design inspired by the Jordan 23 from 2008 — a sneaker widely regarded as one of the best post-retirement Jordan models. Once again focusing on the upper (which is so large it’s essentially a blank canvas for Jordan Brand to work with), the Jordan 40 here borrows the DNA-helix–inspired detailing of the AJ23 — and it works beautifully. Specifically, the sneaker takes after the Jordan 23 “Black Stealth” with a premium black leather foundation, white detailing, and red stitching just above the midsole. Icy blue soles featuring Jordan’s fingerprint land underfoot, and the left tongue features an encircled “23” in line with the shoe’s inspiration. Just the kind of thing that makes sneakerheads (or at least us) geek out. Bravo.
