UConn men's basketball officially signs 2026 recruits

The UConn men’s basketball program officially signed a pair of 2026 high school recruits, guard Junior County and wing Colben Landrew, this week.

County, who plays at Wasatch Academy in Utah and is ranked No. 28 in the class by 247Sports, was the first to make his commitment when he chose the Huskies over a final list that also included Arizona, Indiana, Maryland and Purdue, on Oct. 2. Rated a top-four shooting guard in the class, County is considered a versatile scoring threat who can play within an offense, with improving ball-handling and shooting skills.

County averaged 13.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists playing for the Utah Prospects last spring and summer on the Nike EYBL circuit.

Landrew, a former football star who moved from Alabama to Georgia, where he plays at Wheeler High, to double-down on basketball, is ranked No. 20 in the class by 247Sports. He brings a physicality and an intensity that will fit right in and is continuing to improve as a scorer to add to his rebounding and defensive abilities. He chose the Huskies on Oct. 15, over a final six that included Louisville, Purdue, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Texas A&M.

Landrew averaged 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game while playing for Game Elite on the Adidas 3SSB circuit, where helped lead his team to a championship. He was one of 17 prospects nationally invited to the Team USA Junior National mini-camp last month.

“When we think about Junior and Colben, we see an opportunity for these guys to work and earn their way into impact positions as freshmen,” UConn coach Dan Hurley said in a video posted to social media Thursday. “I think these guys are gonna be able to be on the court and they’re gonna be helping us win really, really early in their career because of the family background and the programs that they’ve played in, whether they were the grassroots programs that were winning championships, or competing in the best leagues that you could play in as an amateur player, and then the messaging that they’re gonna get and they’ve gotten from those people that surround them closest, which is the families.”
