Nike is commemorating the storied career of LeBron Raymone James with a series of LeBron 23 releases inspired by The King’s biggest defining moments — only the timeline isn’t linear. The seventh style in the canon resembles the first chapter of the larger story with a callback to LeBron’s iconic 2002 Sports Illustrated cover, when the publication anointed the then–high school junior “The Chosen One” and set expectations he has not only met, but completely surpassed.
The sneaker matches the uniforms of LeBron’s St. Vincent–St. Mary High School, built on a mostly white foundation with green piping and gold accents. The upper portion features an intricate pattern containing knight chess pieces, nodding to LeBron’s “Four Horsemen” inner circle of Maverick Carter, Rich Paul, and Randy Mims, as well as his player edition Air Force 1 from 2003. Most importantly, the heel features a gold emblem reading “Chosen 1,” directly referencing the aforementioned Sports Illustrated cover. A premium crown-inspired shoebox is included, as are white and green laces.
The sneaker’s nickname, “From This Point Forward,” cleverly nods to both the positionless style of play LeBron helped pioneer and the expectations set for him by the publication. From the moment “The Chosen One” hit the press, greatness was the only acceptable outcome.
Do note that the official image gallery below shows a slightly different design than the pair we covered a few weeks back, featuring a solid white outsole instead of an icy blue semi-translucent one. Like earlier LeBron 23 releases, both versions are expected to drop.
A concrete release date for the LeBron 23 “From This Point Forward” has not been announced yet, but a December 2025 launch seems likely if Nike sticks to its established cadence.
