Chambliss wants to return to Ole Miss, but it’s not that simple

Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss may not be able to play college football in the 2026 season. That’s still pending, but if he is granted a sixth season, he already knows where he’s planning on playing.

There has been speculation that former Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, now head coach of the LSU Tigers, may try to get Chambliss to join him in Baton Rouge for 2026. The Grand Rapids, Mich., native could also enter the transfer portal and go just about anywhere he wants if not LSU.

Chambliss does not plan on leaving Oxford, though. If he’s able to play college ball in 2026, he wants to do it with Ole Miss.

“From the moment I arrived at Ole Miss, Oxford has truly felt like home for me and my family,” Chambliss wrote on Instagram (h/t On3). “I give all glory and honor to God for His guidance and faithfulness throughout this journey. This season has meant so much to me, especially because of the brothers I get to line up with every day and the unwavering love and support of the Oxford community. My teammates are family, and together we share a common goal, to bring a championship home to Ole Miss.

“While the process is still ongoing, there is no place I’d rather be than finishing my college football career in Oxford. I’m incredibly grateful for this decision and excited to continue the work alongside my teammates, Coach Pete, and the entire Ole Miss staff as we chase something special next year.”

Speaking of doing something special, Chambliss and Ole Miss are on the verge of doing something legendary here at the end of this season. They’ve beaten No. 11 Tulane and No. 3 Georgia in the College Football Playoff, and they’re one win away from playing in the CFP national championship game.

They’ll square off with No. 10 Miami in the semifinal at the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl, and Chambliss is a huge reason they have a chance to win and perhaps even win it all.

Trinidad Chambliss has been excellent for Ole Miss Rebels

Chambliss has thrown for 644 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions while also rushing for two scores between the two CFP games.

With the game tied at 34 with less than a minute to go against Georgia, Chambliss led a seven-play, 45-yard game-winning field goal drive against one of the best defenses in college football.
