After a lengthy build-up that’s included first looks at several styles, the Nike Zoom GT Cut 4 is finally ready for launch. It’s fitting that the first colorway to hit shelves is also the first we saw of the model, the iridescent “Preheat” edition worn by Paige Bueckers last year. Nike Basketball’s “Greater Than” series has birthed some of the best non-signature basketball models of the 2020s, and the Cut line has served as the pinnacle of that. The GT Cut 3 was one of the most-worn sneakers in the NBA last season, all while the original GT Cut has remained extraordinarily popular in its own right, particularly in China.
The GT Cut 4 builds on the performance success of its predecessors but with an all-new visual package, consisting of molded lines akin to DNA helices or fishbones along the bottom of the upper. A ZoomX 3.0 midsole and parabolic Zoom Strobel work in tandem with RBR-X foam for enhanced stability, joined by a Cushlon carrier for added support. The model also features a 3D-molded collar, molded vamp tongue, and exoskeleton-casted containment upper that supports movement in all directions.
Nike’s decision to debut the “Preheat” on Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers tells us that this is a sneaker for the next generation. The sneaker features an iridescent leather exterior taken in eye-catching, aquatic shades of blue, teal, and purple. Several additional colorways have already surfaced, including a “Year of the Horse” edition and Victor Wembanyama PE among others.
