Michigan State football has reportedly added a new assistant coach with Big Ten playing experience at a conference rival.
Corey Robinson of 247Sports reported on Saturday that Michigan State has added former Wisconsin linebacker Jake Chaney as an assistant defensive line coach under Winston DeLattiboudere. Chaney is one of a few reported coaching staff hires this week.

Chaney starred at linebacker for the Badgers from 2021 to 2024. Following his playing days, he quickly transitioned into coaching, joining the Badgers staff for the 2025 season as a defensive assistant. Now, he’ll move a little further east to join the new Spartans’ coaching staff led by new head coach Pat Fitzgerald.
Chaney brings plenty of Big Ten experience to the Spartans staff and as a recent graduate, he should be able to quickly relate and connect with the players. This is another nice addition to the Spartans staff.
