Kevin Durant’s Nike KD 19 Officially Unveiled

Nike Basketball and Kevin Durant are officially entering a new chapter together with the unveiling of the Nike KD 19, the nineteenth installment in one of the most prolific signature lines in modern basketball.

The KD 19 introduces a bold new visual direction marked by a giant Z-shape molding on the upper while remaining consistent with the full-length Zoom strobel performance innovation that has defined Durant’s signature footwear since the KD 12 silhouette. The model immediately stands out thanks to a striking exterior TPU “dagger”, a nod to Durant’s longtime “Slim Reaper” nickname and his lethal scoring ability from anywhere on the floor.

Recent KD signature models have drawn elements from past Nike models; the KD 18, for example, features elements of the Terra Humara, the KD 17 connecting with the Air Max Plus, and so on. The KD 19, however, owns its own drastic design identity, keeping Swoosh branding minimal at the forefoot.

Stability also plays a major role in the KD19’s design. A mid-foot shank reinforces the shoe’s structure, while the dual-injection TPU upper provides lockdown around the heel and mid-foot. Breathability comes courtesy of a textile tongue, while subtle details such as Durant’s No. 35 and No. 7 jersey numbers embedded on the outsole tie the model directly to the superstar’s career.

KD has the second-longest signature shoe line in Nike history, trailing LeBron James’ line by four models.

The Nike KD 19 is debuting on the night of March 16th during the Rockets/Lakers game, but a retail release isn’t scheduled for months. The KD 19 “University Red” is confirmed to drop on June 13th via SNKRS before launching globally June 17th.
