Mark Hunt arrested on domestic violence charges

Former UFC heavyweight fighter Mark Hunt was arrested on a domestic violence charge in Sydney, Australia on Wednesday.

The New Zealand-born former professional mixed martial artist and kickboxer, known as the “Super Samoan” and the “King of Walk-Offs,” was later released on bail after the April 15 arrest.

Hunt was arrested and charged with one count of stalking or intimidation with intent to cause physical harm according to reports.

The former fighter was accused of becoming aggressive towards the alleged victim and a witness after she was helping him with a task,” according to a report from MMA Fighting. “Hunt allegedly behaved in an ‘intimidating and berating matter’ and caused the victim ‘fear and distress,’ which led to the police being contacted.

“Police told the court that Hunt allegedly texted the victim a death threat stating ‘I’m just going to murder you in the end anyway.’”

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Hunt’s attorney said that he was likely to plead guilty to the stalking and intimidation charge.

Hunt is best known for his time in the UFC (2010–2018) and winning the 2001 K-1 World Grand Prix, earning a reputation as a dangerous heavyweight striker.
