Knicks’ OG Anunoby diagnosed with hamstring strain, is questionable for Game 3: Sources

New York Knicks wing OG Anunoby suffered a right hamstring strain in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinals series against the Philadelphia 76ers and is questionable for Game 3, league sources confirmed to The Athletic.

Anunoby was injured in New York’s 108-102 win against the 76ers on Wednesday night. With the win, the Knicks took a 2-0 lead in the series, but Anunoby was subbed out for guard Miles McBride with 2:31 left in the game and did not return.

Anunoby was not on the Knicks’ bench as they completed a fourth-quarter rally in which they outscored the 76ers 19-12 in the final frame. He’ll be day-to-day going forward, per league sources.

“I haven’t talked to anybody. He looked like he was hopping,” Knicks coach Mike Brown said about a half hour after New York’s win, its fifth straight.

Anunoby finished Wednesday’s game with 24 points and four steals. It was his fourth game in these playoffs with more than 20 points.

In the regular season, the 28-year-old averaged 16.7 points per game and shot 38.6 percent from 3. One of the game’s most versatile defenders, he seems likely to earn a spot on one of the NBA’s yet-to-be-announced All-Defensive teams.
