Formula 1 heads to the unique Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve this weekend for the Canadian Grand Prix, with a Sprint thrown into the mix for the third time this season – but what weather conditions can the teams and drivers anticipate?

With some outfits planning to introduce further upgrades, the sole hour of Free Practice will be crucial to determine their impact, so it’s good news that the weather is forecast to be cool and dry on Friday.

The pleasant conditions should continue into Saturday’s Sprint and Qualifying action, but Canada’s typically changeable weather could rear its head on Sunday, with rain and wind predicted to add another challenge to proceedings.

2026 Canadian Grand Prix weekend weather forecast

FRIDAY, MAY 22 – FP1 AND SPRINT QUALIFYING
Conditions: The weather is expected to be cool and pleasant with no rain forecast. Daytime temperatures will range from 7.5°C to 18°C, accompanied by average winds of 11 km/h, gusting up to 32 km/h. Track temperature will peak at 39°C. Overall, favourable conditions are anticipated for the race.
Maximum temperature expected: 18 Celsius
Minimum temperature expected: 7.5 Celsius
Chance of rain: 0%

SATURDAY, MAY 23 – THE SPRINT AND QUALIFYING
Conditions: Saturday is forecast to enjoy favourable weather conditions. The day will see clear skies with temperatures ranging from 9.5°C to 19°C. Wind speeds will average around 11.9 km/h with gusts up to 28.8 km/h, and no rain is anticipated. Overall, it looks like an excellent day for racing.
Maximum temperature expected: 19 Celsius
Minimum temperature expected: 9.5 Celsius
Chance of rain: 0%

SUNDAY, MAY 24 – RACE
Conditions: Race day is currently expected to be challenging with a 60% chance of precipitation. Rain coverage looks scattered with fluctuating periods of light to moderate intensities. Temperatures will range from 10°C to 16°C, with track temperatures reaching 24.15°C. Winds will average around 14.8 km/h, gusting up to 36 km/h. Teams should have optimal grip conditions unless rainfall occurs.
Maximum temperature expected: 16 Celsius
Minimum temperature expected: 10 Celsius
Chance of rain: 60%
