As per Ben Jacobs, Manchester United are making progress in their efforts to sign Ederson from Atalanta. No formal offer has been made as of yet, but one could be submitted very quickly. At this point, United are in discussions with the player’s representatives over personal terms for a five-year contract that is being prepared.
From Manchester United’s point of view, the 26-year-old Brazilian is seen as a good option to replace Casemiro, his eight years older compatriot, who has already played his last game for the club and will not be included in the squad for the final matchday of the season, when Michael Carrick’s team travel to Brighton.
In January 2022, Ederson left his homeland, where he played for Corinthians, to join Salernitana in a €6.5million deal. His progress in Italy was so notable that Salernitana sold him to Atalanta the following summer for €22.9million. This season, he has represented La Dea on 41 occasions in all competitions, and could do so one more time this evening, when Atalanta open the final round of the season in Serie A away to Fiorentina.
Talks are progressing between Manchester United and Atalanta for Ederson and progress has been made.
No formal offer as of Friday morning but that could change relatively quickly.
