Nottingham Forest are already preparing to splash the cash ahead of the summer transfer window, launching an offer to sign a Serie A star.
Nottingham Forest hold talks to sign defender
The Tricky Trees are hardly ever quiet in the transfer market and that’s unlikely to change after flirting with relegation this season and going through as many as three managers. Eventually, Evangelos Marinakis landed on Vitor Pereira and the Portuguese coach is now the person that he’s looking to back this summer.
Just who arrives is the big question. Those in the Midlands have already been linked with the likes of Jonathan David in what would be an incredibly ambitious move.

His club are desperate to keep him.
The Juventus striker may have struggled since arriving in Turin, but all it takes is a look back at his time with LOSC Lille to realise the player Forest could be welcoming.
Serie A seems to be where it’s at for the Tricky Trees, too. According to Sports Boom, Nottingham Forest launched an offer to sign Jan Ziolkowski from AS Roma worth around €15m (£13m), only to see it rejected by the Italians.
Talks are ongoing and Roma have set their asking price at a hefty €25m (£22m). That means Forest are still £9m away from matching that valuation, giving them plenty of work to do.
At just 20 years old, Ziolkowski is yet to reach the peak of his powers and that £22m fee could prove to be worth every penny if he reaches his potential in years to come. Whether Forest are ready to reach that price as soon as this summer remains to be seen, though.
Forest should splash out on Ziolkowski
Despite interest from Brighton and Bournemouth, it is Nottingham Forest who lead the race to sign Ziolkowski. They’re the ones pushing to secure a deal and the only club that have launched an offer at this stage.
There’s still a long way to go to find a middle ground with Roma, too. It’s quite telling that those at the City Ground have advanced talks so quickly and he’s clearly someone that they’re big fans of.

The numbers, though only in a small dose, certainly make for good reading compared to someone as impressive as Murillo. They suggest that Ziolkowski is a top centre-back in the making.
All signs are pointing towards the City Ground for the 6’4 defender, but Forest must first raise their offer to meet Roma’s hefty valuation at the second time of asking.
