How do you follow up a hit signature basketball shoe? Make damn sure its successor is rock-solid, then cash in by expanding the franchise. Ja Morant is set to join LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo in a rare tier of Nike Basketball athletes with an active takedown line. Enter the Nike Twelve Time, first teased by Ja himself on Instagram.
If you’ve been following the Nike Ja 3 lineage, you know how fitting it is that the Twelve Time emerges straight from the source. The silhouette looks comparable to the Ja 3, though the engineering appears quite different. Our clearest view is of the heel, showing a recurring signature logo motif printed across the background. The midsole and forefoot both stand out with wave-like sculpting, the latter taking on a shell structure similar to the GT Future and GT Cut 4. While reverse Swoosh logos have become a hallmark of Ja Morant shoes, appearing on both the Ja 3 and upcoming Ja 4, the Twelve Time opts for a standard-facing Swoosh on the lateral side.
Full performance details are still pending, but Ja’s teaser image shows herringbone traction underfoot. Takedown basketball models generally feature less costly tech and simpler engineering than their mainline counterparts, resulting in a lower price point.
We should note that Ja’s first takedown model arrives on the heels of the adidas Anthony Edwards Believe That, adding fuel to what figures to be one of the defining NBA and sneaker rivalries of the foreseeable future.
Ja Morant’s Nike Twelve Time doesn’t have a firm price or release date yet, but a launch timed to the Nike Ja 4 sometime in the Fall 2026 window seems likely. See teaser images below and stay tuned for updates.
