Cornerback Blake Jenkins only got his offer from the Michigan Wolverines this past spring.
He took a visit to Ann Arbor to check things out, and the Wolverines followed that up with a visit to Katy, Texas, to recruit him. Two visits, in fact.
Those visits were from cornerbacks coach Jernaro Gilford and general manager Dave Peloquin, who clearly wanted the Texas product in the fold.
“Yes, they did (come to see me),” Jenkins told 247Sports in May. “Coach JG and the GM (Dave Peloquin) came by and stopped two different times. They were telling me Michigan plays both roles well, being a great elite football program and being a great school academically.”
The end result was a commitment from Jenkins, a 4-star corner who is ranked as the No. 30 player at his position, according to 247Sports.
The decision was made public on Thursday.
The Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas Longhorns, SMU Mustangs and Vanderbilt Commodores were also in the running.
