While the Knights repeated Thursday’s offensive outburst on Friday, the rest of the Sox affiliates failed to follow suit. It didn’t matter for the Barons, for whom three runs were enough for a win, but the Dash, Cannon Ballers, and DSL White Sox all suffered losses.

Anthony DePino drilled two homers — including a walk-off — for Birmingham, while Mason Adams made his AAA return in a Knights win.

All this and more in today’s minor league recap!

Triple-A Charlotte Knights (37-30)

Trailing 3-0 after the first, the Knights rallied with another strong offensive showing to take Friday’s game 12-7 over the Oklahoma City Comets. Ryan Galanie and Korey Lee each hit go-ahead homers in the back-and-forth affair, while Junior Perez also went deep for the first time as a Knight.

Nolan Jones made his organizational debut, going 1-for-3 with a double, two walks, and a steal after being acquired from Cleveland on Thursday.

Mason Adams took the mound at Truist Field for the first time since September of 2024 after his long road back from Tommy John surgery. The Sox No. 11 prospect recovered from a first-inning three-run homer by retiring nine of the final 12 hitters he faced.

Rikuu Nishida (2B): 2-for-4, R, HBP

Junior Perez (CF): 2-for-3, 2B, HR, R, 2 RBI, BB

Nolan Jones (RF): 1-for-3, 2B, 3 R, 2 BB, SB

Korey Lee (C): 1-for-4, HR, 2 R, RBI

Dustin Harris (LF): 3-for-4, 3 R, RBI, BB, SB

Ryan Galanie (DH): 3-for-4, 2B, HR, R, 5 RBI, BB

Mario Camilletti (3B): 1-for-4, BB, SB

Andy Weber (SS): 1-for-4, 3B, R, 2 RBI, BB

Mason Adams (SP): 4.0 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 5 K

Jairo Iriarte (RP): 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 3 K (WIN)

Garrett Schoenle (RP): 2.0 IP, H, ER, 0 BB, 0 K

FINAL: Knights 12, Oklahoma City Comets 7 | Box Score

Double-A Birmingham Barons (24-37)

Anthony DePino was a one-man show for the Barons. The first baseman drove in all three of the team’s runs on a pair of homers — one a walkoff — in Birmingham’s 3-2 win over the Biloxi Shuckers. The Sox 7th-round draft pick last season now has seven home runs in 102 at-bats with the Barons, three of which have come in the past two days.

DePino drilled a two-run shot in the sixth to put the Barons up 2-1. After Biloxi tied the game with two outs in the ninth, he led off the home half of the inning with a no-doubter to left.

On the mound, Lucas Gordon, Phil Fox, Jackson Kelley, and Jonathan Clark combined to punch out 14 Shuckers and allowed just two runs on four hits as a group. Fox, Kelley, and Clark all have sub-3 ERAs on the season, while Fox also has a 0.800 WHIP in 15.0 innings out of the Barons’ pen.

Jordan Sprinkle (SS): 1-for-3, R, BB

Anthony DePino (1B): 2-for-4, 2 HR, 3 RBI

Colby Shelton (DH): 1-for-3, 2B

Jeral Perez (2B): 0-for-2, BB

Lucas Gordon (SP): 5.1 IP, 2 H, ER, 4 BB, 8 K

Phil Fox (RP): 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, K

Jackson Kelley (RP): 1.0 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K

Jonathan Clark (RP): 1.0 IP, H, ER, BB, 3 K (WIN)

High-A Winston-Salem Dash (34-27)

The Greenville Drive spoiled Max Banks‘ High-A debut, tagging the right-hander for six runs over four innings as they doubled up the Dash 10-5. Banks managed five strikeouts, and departed the game with his team trailing 6-4.

On the other side of the ball, MLB’s No. 83 prospect Kyson Witherspoon baffled the heart of Winston-Salem’s order, holding the two through five hitters hitless on the night. All eight of the Dash’s hits came courtesy of leadoff man Kyle Lodise — who launched his sixth homer of the season in the loss — and the bottom four hitters.

Kyle Lodise (2B): 2-for-5, HR, R, 3 RBI

Arxy Hernandez (1B): 2-for-4, HR, 2 R, RBI

Ely Brown (CF): 1-for-3

Alex Ungar (LF): 1-for-3, R, BB

Bryce Eblin (3B): 2-for-4, R, RBI

Max Banks (SP): 4.0 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 5 K

Jake Peppers (RP): 1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, K

Madison Jeffrey (RP): 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K

Single-A Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (31-30)

After the Cannon Ballers hurt Fredericksburg Nationals’ pitching over the last two games, the FredNats returned the favor Friday with a 12-4 win over the Ballers.

Kannapolis scored first on a Stiven Flores double, but it was all Fredericksburg after that. Alexander Martinez, making his first start of the season, surrendered five runs (two earned) over 3.2 innings. The FredNats also plated five in the ninth.

Abraham Nunez, Javier Mogollon, Efren Teran, and Flores all picked up extra-base hits in the loss, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Fredericksburg’s offense.

Abraham Nunez (RF): 1-for-2, HR, R, RBI

Jaden Fauske (RF): 1-for-3, RBI

Derek Cerda (LF): 1-for-4,

Javier Mogollon (SS): 2-for-2, 3B, 2 R, BB, SB

Stiven Flores (1B): 1-for-5, 2B, RBI

Rylan Galvan (C): 1-for-3, RBI, BB

Efren Teran (2B): 1-for-4, 3B, R

Alexander Martinez (SP): 3.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Choyce Diffey (RP): 1.2 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K

ACL White Sox (10-20)

The ACL White Sox had Friday off, and are back in action against the ACL Guardians on Saturday afternoon.

DSL White Sox (3-6)

For the second day in a row, the DSL White Sox struggled on the mound, conceding 14 runs in a 14-4 loss to the DSL Pirates Black. Starting pitcher Franchel Crisostomo allowed just one unearned run during his 2.2 innings of work, but the bullpen surrendered 13 runs during the game’s final three frames.

Catcher Ronald Cardozo, signed by the Sox in January, went 2-for-3 with a double in the loss to raise his average to .429 on the season. The 17-year-old is now slashing .429/.581/.857 with two doubles, two triples, and a home run across 21 at-bats this year. He’s also walked 9 times and struck out only twice.

Felix Lebron (3B): 1-for-4, RBI

Sebastian Romero (CF): 1-for-3, HBP

Ronald Cardozo (DH): 2-for-3, 2B, R, BB

Franchel Crisostomo (SP): 2.2 IP, 0 H, R, 3 BB, K

Beinel Adon (RP): 1.0 IP, 2 H, 3 R, ER, BB, 2 K

Diego Natera (RP): 0.2 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K

FINAL: DSL Pirates Black 14, White Sox 4 | Box Score
