When the Cincinnati Reds announced that they were not renewing their deal with FanDuel Sports Network to carry their games in 2026 many fans were left wondering what the options would be for them. It wasn’t long before the club announced Reds.tv for local fans, but the team also said that “fans in the team’s home television territory will be able to watch all locally distributed games via cable and satellite providers without blackouts”.
That was a part of their press release on February 2nd. Since then both Spectrum and Altafiber in the Cincinnati area have said that they were still negotiating with the team and Major League Baseball to try and get a deal done to make that happen. With Opening Day in 10 days we have finally gotten some action on that front. On Monday evening the official Altafiber account on twitter/X began responding to users who had been asking about the games over the last six weeks telling them that a deal is now done.
“We have an update for the Reds games. Reds games will be available on channel 24. This channel will go live on March 25 for opening day March 26th.”
So there you have it, at least if you are a cable subscriber through Altafiber in the greater Cincinnati area.
If you get your cable through Spectrum or one of the satellite companies there still has not been word on how that will play out for you. Not that it’s ideal if things don’t get worked out there, but Reds.tv will be available if you don’t have the option of having the games included with your cable/satellite subscription and you are in the Reds television territory.
