The Milwaukee Brewers are back in the Midwest this week, as they’re visiting another AL team in the Detroit Tigers for a three-game set beginning Tuesday evening.
Lefty Kyle Harrison will get the start for the Brewers, after a long layoff between starts. Harrison, who last started on Saturday, April 11, hasn’t pitched since a bit of a scary play in that game, when, on the first batter of the evening, Harrison was hit in the knee by a throw from Gary Sánchez and took a tumble. While he remained in the game, he reportedly dealt with a lingering issue in his wrist from the fall, skipping his last turn through the rotation. He’ll return to the mound tonight, with a 3.07 ERA, 4.09 FIP, and 15 strikeouts over 14 2/3 innings this year.
Opposite Harrison is right-hander Keider Montero. Montero, 25, is in his third season with the Tigers, and he’s turned in the best numbers of his career to this point. Through three starts, he has a 3.31 ERA, 1.66 FIP, and 15 strikeouts over 16 1/3 innings.
Pat Murphy’s lineup against Montero features Brice Turang, William Contreras, and Jake Bauers at the top. Gary Sánchez bats cleanup as the DH, followed by Garrett Mitchell and Luis Rengifo. Sal Frelick, David Hamilton, and Blake Perkins round things out (note: Perkins starts in left field, though the graphic is missing that notation).
First pitch is set for 5:40 p.m. CT on Brewers.TV and the Brewers Radio Network.
