Latest updates on Brewers’ prospect Frank Cairone

Sad news out of the Brewers farm system:

Last Friday, Brewers pitching prospect Frank Cairone — a 6’2” lefty who the Brewers picked No. 68 overall in the 2025 draft — was involved in a car accident near his hometown in New Jersey. According to the local police, the crash occurred after a driver blew through a stop sign and hit Cairone. Cairone’s girlfriend was also injured in the accident. Per the Brewers organization, Cairone is “currently being cared for at a hospital in New Jersey with the support of his family.”

Brewers GM Matt Arnold says that Cairone “is progressing positively,” and that the “reports (they’ve) gotten are good.” Arnold also added that “regional scouting coordinator Steve Ditrolio – who signed Cairone – is assisting the family in any way possible on behalf of the organization.” Other than that, not much information has been released by the organization.

A poster on the Brewer Fanatic forums has been posting updates, purportedly from someone “very close” to Cairone. Per that source, doctors expect Cairone “will have (a) full recovery, it’s just going to take time. He’s already ahead of the game, breathing on his own and moving around a lot. He was also starting to open his eyes just a little bit.” Another update was posted last night stating that Cairone stood up for the first time, among other signs of progress.

Obviously, all of these updates indicate that Cairone’s injuries are pretty serious. I could go on and talk about what a promising pitcher he is, but — like I wrote yesterday — some things are bigger than baseball. All I want to say is that I hope he has a swift and complete recovery and can get back on the field before too long.

This article will be updated with further news as it breaks.
