Things could have been hunky dory for the Braves to start the 2025 campaign, but they have not been. Though rumors of the team’s demise have been greatly exaggerated — there’s a ton of season left to play — the Braves started 2025 with a general feeling reminiscent of much of 2024: malaise, slog, ennui, pick whichever term you want.
Of course, not much of this specifically relates to the manager. But, teams do eventually make changes, just like the Braves swapped out hitting coach Kevin Seitzer for Tim Hyers in the offseason. Further, Brian Snitker himself was pretty equivocal about managing beyond 2025, and, of course, he’s not technically signed beyond the 2025 season anyway.
To that end, there are various things that could happen. If the Braves continue to slog, there’s some chance of a midseason managerial move to attempt to either spark the team, or put a pin in the season and get the transition started early. This probably won’t happen, in part because it would require the Braves to founder in a way they haven’t foundered at all in over a decade, but baseball has fat tails all over the place.
Perhaps more likely is that, whether 2025 ends on a relatively high note or not, there’s an amicable parting of ways and a transition in the offseason. But, there’s also the possibility that Brian Snitker just keeps rocking on the way he has ever since he got the interim manager tag following the firing of Fredi Gonzalez. I could probably handicap the percentages, but that’s not really the point of this poll, which is for you to click a button such that we can eventually show you the results of all the clicks a few days from now.
