The Situation: Facially, this would be a fairly normal time to call up your top outfield prospect, given that Kerry Carpenter just hit the injured list with a foot injury. And Clark has logged 400 pretty good plate appearances in Triple-A with even better underlying metrics. Still, you could have made the same argument to call him up a month ago, when the Tigers were trying to get back into the playoff race while still having large holes in their outfield. And there’s also an argument to wait a couple weeks to keep Clark eligible for a PPI pick given how good a prospect he is. But nonetheless, here he is, likely to rove center field in Comerica Park for the rest of the season.
