Bats were blazing across the lower minors on Wednesday, with every Dash and Cannon Baller starter reaching base in slugfest wins. Starting pitching shined, as well, with all five starters conceding two or fewer runs.
George Wolkow teed off with another homer amid a three-hit day, David Sandlin dazzled for the Knights, and Ryan Burrowes went deep twice for Winston-Salem.
All this and more in today’s farm report!
Triple-A Charlotte Knights (47-42)
The Knights couldn’t tune out the Nashville Sounds on Wednesday, falling 6-3 after conceding four runs in the seventh. David Sandlin pitched well, but the bullpen failed to follow suit. Sandlin allowed two runs over five innings of work while striking out three and took a no-decision.
Munetaka Murakami picked up another hit, this time an RBI double, and is reportedly on his way back to Chicago to join the White Sox. Rikuu Nishida and Nolan Jones each had a pair of singles in the loss.

The pitching staff struggled, but the offense picked them up. Justin Sinibaldi navigated six walks to turn in five innings of two-run ball, and Garrett Wright earned the win with 1.2 scoreless innings.

Single-A Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (42-41)
Like the Dash, all nine Cannon Ballers starters reached base in a narrow 9-8 win over the Delvmara Shorebirds. The Ballers built up a 6-0 lead and staved off a late rally to take home the “W.” Despite putting up nine runs on 12 hits, just one Baller recorded an extra-base knock in Alexander Albertus, who tripled.
The offensive showcase overshadowed some shaky pitching, but Jesus Mendez delivered when it mattered, pitching a perfect ninth to nail down the save.

On the mound, Orlando Suarez struck out four while allowing five hits and two walks over 4.1 innings.
