Between Tim Elko’s walk-off, news of the Sox’s long-term investment deal with Justin Ishbia, and Kyle Teel’s upcoming promotion, Thursday was an exciting day to be a Sox fan.

This excitement was fueled by several performances down on the farm.

Colson Montgomery launched two home runs for the Knights, George Wolkow homered among a 15-hit outburst in Kannapolis, and both Grant Umburger and Tommy Vail turned in five shutout innings in their respective starts.

All this and more in today’s minor league recap!

Triple-A Charlotte Knights (28-32)

Colson Montgomery provided nearly all of the Knights’ offense with a pair of long home runs as the team fell to the first-place Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Wow. Lyle Miller-Green with the single, an aggressive send by manager Chad Pinder and some serious speed from George Wolkow, who motors home from first.

Then the wheels fall off from Myrtle Beach. Ryan Burrowes beats out an infield hit. Then, when Borrowes attempts to steal… pic.twitter.com/fwtbTwAzFz
