With news of his call-up breaking late last night, Jacob Gonzalez couldn’t have left a better (hopefully) final impression in the Queen City. Over his final two games in Charlotte, the infielder went 7-for-8 at the plate with 3 homers, 2 doubles, and 8 RBI. Though the circumstances surrounding his promotion are less-than-ideal, he’s getting his shot nevertheless.

The rest of the organization struggled at the plate, with each of the Barons, Dash, and Cannon Ballers scoring two or fewer runs in losses. The ACL White Sox, meanwhile, picked up a win thanks to three home runs.

All this and more in today’s minor league recap!

Triple-A Charlotte Knights (29-26)

Jacob Gonzalez left Charlotte on a high note, drilling a homer and a double in the Knights’ 12-4 win over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. Michael Turner, Caden Connor, and Mario Camilletti also went deep in the victory.

Camilletti drew a pair of walks to raise his International League-leading OBP to .480, 26 points higher than the league’s next best mark. He’s one of only five qualified hitters in the league with an OPS north of 1.000. The exclusive group also includes Gonzalez, whose 1.087 mark leads the league.

Mario Camilletti (3B): 1-for-3, HR, 3 R, 2 RBI, 2 BB

Braden Montgomery (CF): 1-for-2, 2B, 2 R, 3 BB, SB

Austin Hays (LF): 2-for-5, R, 3 RBI

FINAL: Knights 12, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 4 | Box Score

Double-A Birmingham Barons (18-30)

The Barons deployed four pitchers whose names started with “J” Friday night, but they couldn’t find a “W,” falling 3-2 to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

Samuel Zavala and Colby Shelton each doubled in the loss, while Jordan Sprinkle swiped his 19th base of the season.

Samuel Zavala (CF): 1-for-4, 2B, 2 R, BB

High-A Winston-Salem Dash (28-21)

Runs were tough to come by for the Dash, too. The team scored on a sacrifice fly and a balk in the seventh inning, and even though they out-hit the Rome Emperors 5-4, they fell 3-2.

The pitching staff combined to punch out 14, highlighted by Liam Paddack‘s 8 strikeouts.

ACL White Sox (6-13)

The ACL White Sox jumped out to a 6-0 lead thanks to homers from Yordani Soto, Jurdrick Profar, and Marcelo Alcala in the first two innings. The six runs were enough, and the team cruised to a 6-3 win over the ACL Dodgers.
