Derrick Rose’s tenure as a Chicago Bull goes far beyond his high-flying acrobatics, a connection with the city itself stemming from his off-the-court conduct during that span and his “hometown hero” status cultivated by his own Illinois roots. For those aware of that fact, news that the 6-time championship-winning organization would immortalize #1 was anything but a surprise, and the moment is nearly upon us as “Derrick Rose” day and his jersey retirement ceremony loom on January 4th.

Beyond just what’ll take place in the United Center, the city of Chicago, with an official declaration and Rose’s foremost sponsor in adidas are getting in on the celebration. Already returning to the shelves in 2020, the original adiZero Rose 1 is on its way back once again. Though the wide release of the shoe won’t come until January 17th, fans in Chicago will be able to reserve pairs early and witness a Rose-centric activation while they’re at it.

Taking place on the West Side at 1848 S Blue Island Ave in conjunction with Foot Locker, a selection of the former MVP’s biggest fans will get the invite for an exclusive photo opportunity, additionally getting a chance at tickets for the retirement ceremony and game. Those who strike gold on the early reservation will have theirs secured for when the actual launch takes place on the 17th.

Again, both the general public and event invitees will have to wait until January 17th to actually get their hands on the latest retro of the adidas adiZero Rose 1 in its iconic “black/red.” For now, peruse activation details via the gallery above, and refresh on the MVP-winning kicks via the one below.
