The Dallas Mavericks will be without guard Dante Exum for an extended period due to right knee soreness. Dallas is taking a cautious approach with Exum, after the veteran guard missed most of last season due to wrist and hand injuries.
Exum has been dealing with the soreness in his right knee since the beginning of training camp. The absence leaves the Mavericks even more thin in the backcourt. D’Angelo Russell, Brandon Williams and two-way player Ryan Nembhard are the only healthy primary ballhandlers for the Mavs entering the season.
Dallas re-signed the 6-foot-5 guard to a one-year, veteran minimum contract. Exum spent the previous two seasons with the Mavericks, after returning from a two-year stint in Europe playing in Spain and Serbia.
