Orlando Magic president Jeff Weltman said the team has no intention of breaking up its roster following the first-round loss to the Detroit Pistons, pointing to how the group performed when healthy.

“When healthy, we were top five [on] defense and top 10 [on] offense,” Weltman said. “I don’t want to tear this thing down and dismantle it because of the way it ended and certainly one half.”

He stressed that injuries, particularly to Franz Wagner, played a major role in the outcome rather than roster flaws.

“It’s very frustrating,” Weltman said. “But it’s also very encouraging because whenever they are together, they have been elite.”

The Magic had invested heavily in their current core last offseason, including a major trade for Desmond Bane, and plan to continue building around that group.
