Richard Jefferson says Knicks have real title chance

Richard Jefferson believes the New York Knicks have a legitimate opportunity to win a championship this season, even with strong competition like the Oklahoma City Thunder still in the mix.

Speaking with TMZ Sports after calling New York’s dominant Game 6 win over the Atlanta Hawks, Jefferson said the outcome was more about the Knicks playing at a high level than Atlanta underperforming.

Following that 140-89 blowout, the discussion turned to whether players like Karl-Anthony Towns, Jalen Brunson, and the rest of the roster can sustain that level and make a deep run, or if they might fall short again.

Jefferson made it clear he believes in their potential.

“They’re real. The only reason they have ever been questioned is because them themselves haven’t played real. It’s not their talent, it’s not their coaching, it’s not their ability.”

“The Knicks are real. They got a chance.”

Asked about their chances against whoever emerges from the Western Conference, Jefferson kept it simple, noting that outcomes can always shift over a seven-game series.

He also touched on the Golden State Warriors, saying there’s no need for a rebuild as long as Stephen Curry is still leading the team.

“If you got Steph Curry, that’s all that matters.”

Jefferson added that keeping both head coach Steve Kerr and veteran Draymond Green should remain a priority, suggesting the team’s competitive window is still open.
