The LA Lakers fanbase shared their thoughts on Maxi Kleber putting in the work during this offseason.
It’s often forgotten, given that he came along with Luka Doncic as part of the trade with the Dallas Mavericks, but Maxi Kleber is now a Los Angeles Lakers star.
Kleber only got five minutes in the Lakers’ Game 5 when the Minnesota Timberwolves eliminated them. This was due to an injury he was struggling with since the trade.
During the offseason, we got reports that Kleber is healthier than ever and will impact the Lakers in a positive way.
Michael Cooper believes Kleber could help the Lakers, playing a big role in their potential path to championship success. And after seeing his latest offseason workout, Lakers fans seem to agree.
LA Lakers fans love Maxi Kleber showing off new physique and athleticism
Maxi Kleber shared a clip on Instagram of himself working out during this offseason. The German was noticeably slimmer and was moving with the same energy fans saw in Dallas.
Immediately, LA Lakers fans started to chime in, with one fan noting, ‘Hold up… is Maxi Kleber on that Luka diet too?”
Another fan added to this by saying, “Maxi has always looked and jumped like this, but staying healthy is what we need to see.”
One Lakers fan made an interesting bet, claiming, “I’m banking that Kleber is going to have a 2020 Dwight Howard type of redemption season…”
While another fan asked for Kleber to stay, writing, “Lakers better hold on to him.”
This sentiment was echoed by a similar Lakers fan, who said, “I’m good with Kleber staying on the team.”
But one cynical LA Lakers fan pointed out an important fact, noting, “Anyone that’s on a contract year magically cares and goes on a diet.”
Maxi Kleber could be a useful rotation piece behind Deandre Ayton
Maxi Kleber has the chance to be a great player for the LA Lakers. As presently constructed, Kleber isn’t going to be a starter on the LA Lakers.
With the Lakers signing Deandre Ayton and Jake LaRavia, two players who play in the same position as Kleber, he will be low on the rotation chart.
But if he impresses JJ Redick with the few minutes he gets at the start of the season, Kleber could earn his way deeper into the rotation.
The advantage that Kleber has is that he is a unique player from a size standpoint. If the Lakers ever opt to play a small-ball lineup, Kleber, at 6’10, can be the perfect undersized center option for them.
Add to this that he is a career 35.4% from beyond the arc, Kleber also gives the Lakers a great spacing option at center.
