UConn fans have shown no regard for their taste buds when it comes to supporting the Huskies.
It started with a hot sauce challenge that began going viral in 2021, and ended up raising more than $100K for the Husky Ticket Project, which works with youth organizations to send Connecticut kids to UConn games.
And what better way to wash down hot sauce than with some pickle juice?
Huskies fans are now downing homemade concoctions of pickle juice and an electrolyte mix, the exact drink Silas Demary Jr. partook in before producing his own viral moment in a game against DePaul earlier this season.
Too much pickle juice, too many turnovers lead to stomach-churning night for UConn vs. DePaul
Demary got sick on the court, ejecting some of that pickle juice onto the floor before sprinting off and sending head coach Dan Hurley chasing after him, trying to get him to go the right way back to the locker room.
UConn fan Bryan Penfield challenged fans to drink the pickle juice-electrolyte drink and make a donation to the Husky Ticket Project. In a seeming head-nod to the hot sauce challenge, he also added some pickle jalapeno juice to the mix.
“Try not to barf,” Penfield wrote on X. “Go Huskies.”

The challenge has been trending on social media as #SilasDemaryJrChallenge.
There’s been no update yet on how much money the trend has raised for The Husky Ticket Project, but one thing is clear: UConn fans certainly don’t lack for passion, or creativity.
