The Washington Wizards have been the worst team in the NBA this season.
There is a case to be made for this Washington Wizards team being the worst team of all-time.
Heading into their matchup against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night, the Wizards had the longest losing streak in the NBA at 14 games.
It did not look like they were going to stand any chance against the Hawks, but not only did they upset Atlanta, they blew them out 132-113.
With the win, the Wizards avoided potentially setting a new franchise record for their longest losing streak ever.
CJ McCollum helps the Washington Wizards snap their losing streak
CJ McCollum turned back the clock for a vintage performance against the Hawks.
OKC could go 74 wins or better!
He scored 46 points on 10-for-13 shooting from deep along with 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
The crazy part is this wasn’t the first time McCollum had a 40-point performance this season, he also turned in a 42-point performance against the Detroit Pistons on November 10.
McCollum joins Tyrese Maxey and Giannis Antetokounmpo as the only three players in the Eastern Conference with multiple 40-point games this season.
The Washington Wizards have had some bright spots during an abysmal season
Despite the Wizards having a terrible season, they have seen some nice play from second-year player Alex Sarr.
Sarr has shown potential with averages of 18.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, but he can’t carry the team by himself.
CJ McCollum and young guard Kyshawn George have been scoring well but their efforts still aren’t enough to consistently win games.
The Wizards are headed for another lottery-bound season, as they will be hoping to secure a top pick in a very good 2026 NBA Draft.
