Luis Ortiz needed just 15 seconds to stop Terrell Jamal Woods as the 47-year-old heavyweight veteran powered Team Miami to victory over Team Atlanta in the Team Boxing League playoffs on Friday night.
Ortiz wasted no time imposing himself on Woods during the Miami Assassins’ 21-11 victory over the Atlanta Attack at the Yaarab Shrine Center.
The former world title challenger came out firing with a vicious body attack before pinning Woods on the ropes and switching smoothly upstairs.
Ortiz floored the experienced American with a heavy barrage.
After referee Michael Alexander allowed Woods to continue, the Cuban southpaw immediately resumed his assault with head shots, forcing the official to wave off the contest moments later.

The emphatic victory was a far cry from the pair’s previous Team Boxing League meeting on June 26.
On that occasion, Ortiz had to settle for a decision after the single scheduled round, with Woods surviving to hear the final bell despite being outboxed.
This time, there was no need for the scorecards. Ortiz’s relentless start ensured the rematch was over almost as soon as it began.
Woods, who has once been scheduled to fight Oliver McCall, entered the bout with 108 professional fights to his name and has shared the ring with numerous respected heavyweight prospects and contenders during a career stretching back to 2011.
Despite all that experience, he had no answer to Ortiz’s explosive opening attack.
Heavyweight Power
Although Team Boxing League uses a unique one-round format, Ortiz again demonstrated the punching power that made him one of the heavyweight division’s most avoided contenders during his prime.
At 47 years old, the Cuban proved he can still end matters in an instant. Ortiz remains undefeated in the three-minute format.
