Agit Kabayel Says Frank Sanchez Win Proved His Level

“When I beat Sanchez, people say, ‘Yeah, Kabayel, Sanchez before his career was not a big test,’” Kabayel said on Inside The Ring. “I stopped him after seven rounds.”

“Now people understand which level is Kabayel. Yeah, the performance on Sanchez was very good. I wish him all the best for his career in the future.”

Kabayel has spent the last two years building momentum in the heavyweight division with wins over Sanchez, Arslanbek Makhmudov, and Zhilei Zhang. His pressure style and body punching have turned him into one of the toughest heavyweight problems in the division, but he is still waiting for his first world title shot.

“No, I think this is my time. It’s time for the world title shot,” said Kabayel.

Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has been linked to several options after his knockout win over Rico Verhoeven earlier this month in Egypt. Kabayel, the WBC interim champion, has continued pushing for his mandatory title opportunity, though questions remain about whether Usyk’s team will move in that direction next.

“What did I say? ‘More time and more time.’ I waited so long for the opportunity,” Kabayel said.

Kabayel’s stock has quietly risen during Usyk’s run at the top of the division. Sanchez’s knockout of Torrez added another piece of evidence to his record at a time when he is still trying to force his way into the heavyweight title picture.
