Analyst Questions Oleksandr Usyk’s Three-Fight Plan

Usyk has indicated that his remaining schedule could include a May bout with kickboxing star Rico Verhoeven in Egypt, followed by the winner of Fabio Wardley vs. Daniel Dubois, and a final lucrative fight with Tyson Fury. Oladipo, however, believes the order and even the opponents could easily change once business realities enter the equation.

“I don’t necessarily believe the order of these fights or the names being mentioned,” Oladipo said during a discussion on his YouTube channel while examining the champion’s possible final stretch.

The unified heavyweight champion has already beaten several of the division’s biggest names, including Fury and Dubois, which complicates the idea of closing his career with rematches that have already produced clear results.

Oladipo questioned whether a third meeting with Dubois would generate much interest, given the outcome of their previous fights.

“If Dubois wins, we don’t want to see a trilogy when you’ve stopped him in the first two fights,” Oladipo said. “It makes absolutely no sense.”

The analyst also expressed limited enthusiasm for another Fury meeting despite acknowledging the financial appeal. Their first two bouts were major events, but Oladipo suggested the closing stretch of Usyk’s career would be more compelling if it featured opponents he has not already faced.

“If this is the last lap of what’s been an incredible run from Usyk, can the last lap not be against fighters we haven’t seen him in with before?” Oladipo said.

Money could ultimately steer the direction of those final bouts regardless of what has been proposed publicly. A third fight with Fury would easily generate the largest revenue among the available options, something Oladipo acknowledged could override other sporting considerations.

“Money talks, and Tyson Fury’s money,” he said while discussing why the matchup keeps resurfacing.

Usyk’s three-fight outline offers a glimpse into how the champion imagines his final act. Oladipo believes the heavyweight marketplace will ultimately decide what actually happens once negotiations begin and contenders start pushing their cases.
