Former welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. believes Errol Spence Jr. is going to make a statement when he returns against Tim Tszyu this summer in Australia.
Spence has not fought since his one-sided loss to Terence Crawford in July 2023 for the undisputed welterweight championship. The former unified champion is now preparing to return after a long layoff in a 158-pound catchweight fight against Tszyu on July 25.
Norman says the version of Spence he has seen recently in training camp looks dangerous, and he doesn’t expect the fight to last long.
“You’re definitely going to see a different version of Errol. I feel like he is going to be better than he was in the past,” said Norman Jr. to Fight Hub TV. “What I mean by that is, first-round knockout coming soon.”
“Tim Tszyu is going to sleep, man. The boy ain’t got nothing for him. My boy, he coming to Australia just to give him the work, you feel me?”
Norman made the comments during a recent interview while discussing Spence’s comeback after sparring with him in camp. The two fighters are both trained by Ronnie Shields.
Tszyu enters the fight looking to extend his winning streak to three bouts and will be fighting for the first time under Hall of Fame trainer Jeff Fenech.
Spence, meanwhile, is attempting to restart his career after nearly three years out of the ring. A win over Tszyu would likely move him toward another title run at junior middleweight.
