Fabio Wardley can nonetheless bag large paydays under elite title degree. Requires him to hold up the gloves after getting stopped by Daniel Dubois utterly miss that actuality. Falling brief in opposition to Dubois doesn’t strip him of his means to prime home payments.
Derek Chisora wrote the playbook right here. Chisora by no means needed to conquer top-tier heavyweights to fill arenas or generate big paychecks. British followers acknowledge him, know the leisure they’re paying for, and present up. Wardley can mirror that blueprint with out losing years fruitlessly chasing a rematch with Dubois.
Home dust-ups in opposition to Dave Allen, Johnny Fisher, or Chisora himself provide quick box-office attraction. Efe Ajagba or Tony Yoka present stable worldwide taste. None of these are walkovers, however none require beating a pound-for-pound monster to pack out a venue.
The draw stays unchanged. Followers know Wardley hits like a truck, and so they know he can get harm in return. Put Wardley within the ring with Fisher, and no person cares if a world belt is on the road; they’re tuning in as a result of somebody goes to sleep.
That leaves Queensberry holding loads of playing cards. A routine bounce-back victory adopted by an enormous home principal occasion places him proper again within the cash with out pretending he solved the Dubois riddle.
Down the road, reaching the top of his Queensberry deal would possibly even open up a recent bidding struggle. Zuffa might simply see worth in an action-heavy British brawler. Whereas nothing is on the desk proper now, it highlights what number of avenues exist past this single loss.
Wardley’s bodily situation should at all times come first. From a purely enterprise perspective, the trail is obvious. Chisora proved you’ll be able to stay an enormous ticket vendor with out beating the division’s champions.
Wardley doesn’t want one other belt round his waist to receives a commission. Choose the appropriate matchups, and he can snort all the best way to the financial institution for years to come back.
