Ryan Garcia vs. Mario Barrios undercard was revealed today on social media for February 21st, 2026. Its point is that the card is still just a skeleton that is being filled out with fights.
Two of the fights may not attract much interest, making fans less likely to splurge and order it on DAZN PPV.
The undercard for Mario Barrios vs Ryan Garcia on February 21st
Armando Reséndiz vs. Edgar Berlanga – WBA super middleweight
Gary Antuanne Russell vs Andy Hiraoka – WBA light welterweight
Lester Martínez vs TBA
Turki Alalshikh will participate in the event as a sponsor, but it is a PBC event. The news for the undercard was revealed by boxing insider Julius Julianis tonight.
What will disappoint fans is Edgar Berlanga being given a world title shot against WBA interim 168-lb champion Armando Resendiz. Berlandez is coming off a knockout loss to Hamzah Sheeraz on July 12th in Queens, New York. It appears Resendiz-Berlanga is the co-feature on the February 21st card.
Edgar has lost two out of his last three fights. It’s an oddball fight that doesn’t move the needle with fans outside of the Brooklyn, New York area. If Berlanga were coming off some wins, it would be fine having him fight for a world title against Resendiz.
But his record is 1-2 in his last three fights. If we’re treating boxing like other sports, where you have to earn the championship games or matches by winning, Berlanga doesn’t belong fighting Resendiz. It sends a bad message to have him in this kind of fight.
Hiraoka fighting Gary Antuanne Russell doesn’t do much to create interest in this career. The 29-year-old is ranked #1 with the WBA, but his resume is barren of name opponents. I believe it would be more interesting for fans to scratch Hiraoka from the card and replace him with Ernesto Mercado or Keyshawn Davis.
