‘I know he’ll run’: George Kambosos takes jab at Richardson Hitchins

George Kambosos Jr has a clear goal in mind for his next fight after a win today in Sydney, Australia, as he’s got his target on IBF super lightweight titleholder Richardson Hitchins, whom he tends to refer to as “Shit-chins.”

Kambosos (22-3, 10 KO) moved up to the 140 lb division with a hard-fought win over late sub opponent Jake Wyllie, and at 31 is looking to become a two-division champ.

“Shit-chins is a tip-tap, running kind of guy. If he comes and brings a brawl, better for me, but I know he’ll run,” Kambosos said in the ring after his win.

“That’s the fight. I’m all in. I’m a warrior, I fight the best of the fight. (Eddie Hearn) says Hitchins is (his) best guy, well let him fight toe-to-toe with me. Let’s go.”

Hitchins (19-0, 7 KO) took the IBF belt from Liam Paro last December in Puerto Rico, and could wind up facing his second straight Australian opponent. The Kambosos side would likely love to get the fight in Australia, where it would be worth the most gate money and all that, but Kambosos has proven time and time again in his career that he’s more than willing to go on the road for a fight, too, so that probably isn’t going to be some deal-breaker.

Both fighters are with Matchroom Boxing, which in theory should make the fight fairly easy to make, and considering Kambosos at No. 3 is the IBF’s current top-rated contender despite the fact that the rankings were last updated in February and, again, he hadn’t fought in the division yet, the plan to go to Hitchins vs Kambosos seems fairly obvious.
