Tyson Fury will return to the ring on April 11 for a scheduled bout against Arslanbek Makhmudov in the United Kingdom.

The former heavyweight champion confirmed his comeback following a retirement that lasted just over 15 months, reopening his pursuit of another run at the top of the division after consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.

The fight will be presented by The Ring and streamed worldwide on Netflix, with the venue to be announced.

The April bout follows Fury’s previous Netflix documentary series, extending the platform’s involvement from off-camera access to live competition.

Fury outlines possible next steps

Beyond the April date, Fury has already looked ahead. He has indicated interest in facing Fabio Wardley should the WBO heavyweight champion come through his next assignment, while also keeping the door open for a long-discussed clash with Anthony Joshua.

That potential meeting, however, is not being targeted for immediate action, with Fury suggesting 2027 as a more realistic window for a fight with Joshua.

For Fury, the April bout represents another attempt to reset his career following back-to-back defeats to Usyk, results that ended his second championship reign.

Makhmudov back on British soil

Makhmudov enters the contest with a record of 21-2 and 19 knockouts. The Russian-born, Montreal-based heavyweight is no stranger to fighting in the UK, having defeated David Allen by unanimous decision in Sheffield last October to capture the WBA Intercontinental heavyweight title.

That win followed a first-round stoppage of previously unbeaten Olympian Ricardo Brown in Quebec City and returned Makhmudov to the WBA top ten.

Promoter Camille Estephan described the fight as a major opportunity for Makhmudov to establish himself as a serious contender, while the fighter himself has said he is preparing to deliver a “war” against the former champion.

Another Fury comeback

The April 11 appearance marks the fifth time Fury has stepped away from the sport only to return, continuing a career defined by repeated comebacks as much as championship success.

Whether this latest chapter leads to a future bout with Wardley, Joshua, or another title opportunity remains to be seen, but Fury’s decision to return once again ensures the heavyweight landscape remains unsettled heading into the second half of the year.
