WBC junior middleweight champion Vergil Ortiz Jr. (23-0, 21 KOs) and the seasoned pro Erickson Lubin (27-2, 19 KOs) headline tonight on DAZN in a 12-round fight on a Golden Boy-promoted card at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Lubin will be attempting to pull off the upset.

Middleweight Amari Jones (15-0, 13 KOs) destroyed the overmatched Shady Gamhour (14-3, 9 KOs), stopping him in the third round of yet another mismatch on tonight’s undercard. The 23-year-old prospect Jones knocked Gamhour, 35, down with a right hook after stunning him with two solid left hooks. The referee chose to halt the contest at this point. The official time was at 2:54 of the third.
Heavyweight prospect Joshua Edwards (5-0, 5 KOs) bludgeoned the hapless Zeno Vooris (5-2, 5 KOs) at will with hard punches, cutting him over both eyes, and resulting in their corner having the fight stopped in round three. The time of the stoppage was at 2:34 of round three.
Cruiserweight Robin Sirwan Safar (19-0, 13 KOs) had his way tonight, defeating the tired and over-matched 35-year-old Derick Miller Jr (18-1, 10 KOs) by a 10-round unanimous decision. The scores were 98-91, 99-90, and 99-90. Miller was stumbling and tired in the later rounds. He looked awful, showing no power, and eating a lot of hard punches from the 32-year-old Swedish native, Safar.
Middleweight Eric Priest (16-0-1, 8 KOs) and Esneiker Correa (16-6-3, 14 KOs) battled to an eight-round split decision in the final fight of the prelim card. Correa rallied late to get the draw. This was supposed to have been a clear victory for Priest, but Correa showed that he wanted it more. The judges’ scores were 69-73 for Priest, 77-75 for Correa, and 76-75.
Light welterweight prospect Javier Meza (5-0, 2 KO) defeated Joshua Briones (3-5, 2 KO) by a six-round unanimous decision in a fight that was surprisingly competitive at times. Meza had Briones trapped against the ropes through most of the rounds. But Briones showed excellent power, hurting Meza in round six, which made the fight enjoyable at the end. The scores were 59-55, 58-55, and 58-55.
Junior middleweight Samuel Torres Castellanos (4-0, 3 KO) dominated an overmatched Ricardo Elizalde (0-2), winning by a second-round TKO. He’d taken a knee from a phantom punch. I didn’t see any punches that landed. It was a strange situation. The time of the stoppage was at 1:55 of round two.
Elizalde’s trainer had the fight stopped in round two shortly after he’d been dropped. He wasn’t throwing punches back, and it was clear that he didn’t want to fight.
