Retired Heavyweight With 53 Knockouts Calls Out Deontay Wilder: “Let’s Go”

A former world heavyweight champion has made a sensational call out to Deontay Wilder.

Best known as ‘The Bronze Bomber’, Wilder has had a rollercoaster professional career, reigning as the WBC heavyweight champion between 2015 and 2020 before he was dethroned by Tyson Fury in their highly anticipated rematch.

The 39-year-old from Tuscaloosa, Alabama has lost three of the four bouts he has had since that defeat to ‘The Gypsy King’, also falling short in clashes with former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker and the formidable Zhilei ‘Big Bang’ Zhang.

Despite numerous calls for ‘The Bronze Bomber’ to finally hang up his gloves, it appears that the hard-hitting American will fight on as he prepares to make a return to the ring at some point in 2025.

As Wilder weighs up the options for his next opponent, former WBO world heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs looks to have expressed his interest in a clash with ‘The Bronze Bomber’.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Briggs put his name forward for a showdown against Wilder as he reveals he would even face him in his hometown of Alabama.

“I would like to fight him, I think it would be a great fight in Alabama when he comes back. I never really retired, they just won’t fight me. I’m going to fight in March so if he wants to go, we can go.”

‘The Cannon’ has not fought as a professional since he dispatched of Emilio Zarate in the opening round of their 2016 bout at the O2 Arena in London. The 53-year-old from Brooklyn has left the door open for a return to the ring since then, where he has called out former long-reigning unified heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko on a number of occasions during this time.
